Muhd Irfan Haykal Amidi of BOON SIEW HONDA RACING TEAM took the win at Race 1, Round 2 of the Malaysia Superbike Championship (MSBK) in the MSBK250 A Class. It was a close battle among the top four riders who were on a chase towards earning the winning title. Idlan took the pole position on the grid, followed by Farish on the second spot, Irfan on the third and Emil at the fourth. For the first seven laps, Idlan was seen swiftly taking strides around the circuit at the lead position. While the trio behind him were engaged in a switch of positions between laps, Idlan remained focused and poised at P1. By the last lap however, Farish managed to boldly slide into the P1 position. Luck was not on his side though when seconds into P1, he took a fall which gave Idlan who were at arm’s length the opportunity to quickly grab back the lead position. As the race continued with Idlan at P1 and with Farish out of the equation, it was then a fight between the top three trio. At the last turn, a twist to the plot took place when Irfan slid ahead of his teammate Idlan. That was his winning moment as Irfan took speed and completed the race at 20’18:124s. Commenting on the race, Irfan said, “In the beginning, I only trailed the riders ahead of me and stayed put in the top four groups. Muhd Amir Izzat Rozali of HORIZON RACING TEAM scored the fastest in Race 1, Round 2 of the Malaysia Superbike Championship (MSBK) in the MSBK250 B Class. Amir began the race from the 7 th spot on the grid. In lap 1, Amir managed to slide into the top five troop however fell one spot down in lap 2. By the third lap, Amir was already in control of his machine, managing it at a consistent pace ahead of the rest in the B Class. It was then all about keeping up to the momentum, in guard of his position. Yesterday during the practice session, Amir set his best time at 2’45:467s and 2’40:824s in the qualifying session this morning. Amir completed the fastest in 21’27:946s. Commenting on the race, Amir said, “It was a good start today but towards the end, I found it a little difficult to manage the machine. In the Yamaha Y16ZR Race MasterClass, Arash Tsunami Kamarudin of GT-MAX made a stunning win at Race 1, Round 2 of the Malaysia Superbike Championship (MSBK). Arash who began his race from the second spot on the grid was seen swallowed by the huge troop of riders in the very first lap when he dropped down to tenth position. However, the rider of high calibre had his strategies well in place. From the tenth lap, he gradually picked up pace and went upward. By the third lap, Arash had taken P5 and while maintaining his position was not an easy feat especially among a pool of robust riders, he was determined to make this race count. At the last lap, Arash who was last seen at P5 in lap five worked on his magic before he bolted ahead in the last lap towards the chequered flag first. Arash clocked in at 17’37:309s. The Malaysia Superbike Championship (MSBK) is back on once again with Round 2 at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC). As a starter, the championship today heated up the circuit with the practice sessions. Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin of YAMAHA GEN BLU RACING TEAM ASEAN took the fastest score today for the MSBK1000 A Class. Kasma once again pulled it off at the MSBK championship with a remarkable lap time in practice session 2 when he logged in at 2’08:226s taking down Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman who made fastest in practice session 1 at 2’08:646s. Kasma who took the second fastest in practice session 1 at 2’08:782 upped his speed later on to combat the time sheet and it worked when made fastest time combined. Kasma took the win in Round 1 when he made 70 points during the race weekend. It sure seems like he is penning his way to another shot at victory this round starting off with the best lap time. Commenting on the practice session, Kasma said, “Today, everything went smoothly. Our team riders have made it quite well in the MSBK600 at top five and also in MSBK1000, where I was able to clock in fastest.” “For the qualifying session and the race, I will try and do my best, better than the practice sessions. Osama Mareai made the fastest for the practice session of MSBK1000 B Class of Round 2, Malaysia Superbike Championship held at Sepang International Circuit. Osama seems to own both dexterity and luck this season. His participation in Round 1 saw him bag victory in the class when he maximised his points in Race 2 and Race 3. In practice session 1, Osama made his fastest at 2’16:201s and in practice session 2, he made it with a slight improvement in his lap time at 2’15:959s. Commenting on the practice session, Osama said, “Today’s weather was good but I checked the forecast for tomorrow and it seems that it would be a rainy day. I hope not but in case if it rains, I am better prepared this round and it would be good for my brakes as it would help cool it down. That would give a better stopping power.” “For today’s practice, it was really good. I managed to get back on the machine now. I have not been able to ride since the last round because I had an accident that ended with a broken rib. So, I am still trying to immerse myself into the feel of riding. I have some clutch issues currently and it is being fixed. Andi Farid Izdihar of ASTRA HONDA RACING TEAM clocked in fastest at the practice session of MSBK600 Class for Round 2, Superbike Malaysian Championship held at the Sepang International Circuit. It is their first time, ASTRA HONDA RACING TEAM and Andi, participating in the Malaysia Superbike Championship. Nevertheless, Andi seemed confident, taking a stride on the circuit among some of the best names in the class. In practice session 1, Andi clocked in his best at 2’10:878s. In practice session 2, he made it at 2’11:880s after Muhd Ibrahim Mohd Norrodin who made fastest for that session with 2’11:177s. The combined result however puts Andi on the fastest spot for the practice session. Commenting on the practice session, Andi said, “I managed to get my best lap time in practice session 1 as the weather condition was better. During the practice session 2, it was a little hot and I also did not have a very good feeling with my machine. The mechanics are currently working to identify any issues with the machine. Overall, today was good. I will focus better for tomorrow’s qualifying session.” “This is my first time in MSBK but most of the riders are those who are also participating in the ARRC. Muhd Idlan Hakimi Raduan of BOON SIEW HONDA RACING TEAM logged in fastest in the MSBK250 A Class of Round 2, Malaysia Superbike Championship which was held at Sepang International Circuit. With Round 2 being the first round for Idlan this season, he showcased quite the speed in practice session 1 when he clocked in at 2’30:123s and although he took a few seconds short to making a better lap time in practice session 2, he still made it the fastest. In year 2021, Idlan put on a good show in Round 2 of the championship when he scored second spot in Race 1 and third spot in Race 2. He did not participate in Round 1. In year 2020, Idlan emerged at the top spot when he won Round 1. This year, Idlan will continue to ride aboard the Honda CBR250RR. Commenting on the practice session, “I am glad to have made the fastest in both practices today – thanks to the setup of the machine. I hope to do better in the qualifying tomorrow.” “I was not able to participate in Round 1 due to an injury. Ahmad Fariz Zafri of BUDAK KIMIA-JOND CHAIN LUBE RACING BY BRAAAP team took the fastest hit in the practice session of Round 2, Malaysia Superbike Championship which was held at the Sepang International Circuit. Fariz who rode aboard the Yamaha YZF-R25 made an impressive lap time when he clocked in at 2’42:799s. He took the fourth spot in Round 1 this season with a total of 20 points in Race 1 and 16 points in Race 3. In year 2020, Fariz took the third place in the overall standing with one podium in Race 2, completing the season with a collection of 42 points. While Fariz is no stranger to the scene of MSBK, year 2020 marked his move up the performance ladder. Commenting on the practice session, Fariz said, “First of all, thanks to my team for the preparations made for this round. The setup today is a little different from the previous round. The last round, the setup was a standard one but this time around we are utilising a more advanced engine which provides better speed.” “To be honest, I am not very satisfied as there is a lot of improvement to be made. The weather today has been good; bright and sunny. Rahimi Nabil Razu of TME MOTORSPORTS clocked in fastest for the practice session of YAMALUBE Y16ZR Race MasterClass in Round 2, Malaysia Superbike Championship. In Round 1, Rahimi was placed at the 27 th spot when he failed to collect any points. However, Rahimi made fastest today when he clocked in at 2’52:172s. Commenting on the race, Rahimi said, “In practice session 1 today, I was still not very comfortable with the machine. In practice 2, I tried my best to get accustomed to the machine.” “I followed the moves of other riders and learnt from there. Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin of YAMAHA GEN BLU RACING TEAM ASEAN has certainly made waves with his great showmanship in the arena of motorcycle racing and he will be back this weekend for Round 2 of the Malaysia Superbike Championship (MSBK) at the Sepang International Circuit. In the previous round of the championship, Kasma awed fans and supporters with his performances when he bagged the podium thrice in one weekend, twice at the first place and once at the second. Kasma was unbeatable as he stormed ahead in Race 1 making it almost impossible for his rival to make the cut. In Race 2 however, Kasma’s performances were challenged when his machine took an unexpected turn with some mechanical issues. Slowing down towards the end of the final lap, his contender made his big move and glided to victory. Kasma landed in second place. Kasma was not utterly disappointed though as he knew that he had what it takes to take the winning spot once again. With his dexterity and swift move, he hit the circuit confidently and took bold strides throughout the laps. Towards the chequered flag, Kasma did not waste a second as he stormed ahead and clocked in fastest. The 22-year-old lad has been on many celebratory journeys in the last few years. He has displayed outstanding expertise in the riding scene which showcased his ability to take calculated risks during the race. Commenting on the upcoming race, Kasma said, “I do not have any particular target for Round 2 but I can foresee that it would be a challenging feat with the likes of Zaqhwan and Azlan as well as the entry of Azroy in the MSBK1000 A class. Nevertheless, I will try to be on the podium once again.” Kasma has also been actively involved in other championships this year and has definitely showcased his flexibility in adapting to different sets of machines. He said, “So far, there has been no overlap in the championships. As such, it has not been tough to manage between championships despite the differences in the handling of machines. I have enough time to recover and make preparations for the different championships that I am involved in. More importantly is it about being able to have the right mindset in getting adapted.” Kamsa is not on a special training roster but lives by the motto of “Work in silence, prove by result.” He hopes that his participation would add on to the challenge especially among the more experienced riders.
