Muhd Idlan Hakimi Raduan of BOON SIEW HONDA RACING TEAM logged in fastest in the MSBK250 A Class of Round 2, Malaysia Superbike Championship which was held at Sepang International Circuit. With Round 2 being the first round for Idlan this season, he showcased quite the speed in practice session 1 when he clocked in at 2’30:123s and although he took a few seconds short to making a better lap time in practice session 2, he still made it the fastest. In year 2021, Idlan put on a good show in Round 2 of the championship when he scored second spot in Race 1 and third spot in Race 2. He did not participate in Round 1. In year 2020, Idlan emerged at the top spot when he won Round 1. This year, Idlan will continue to ride aboard the Honda CBR250RR. Commenting on the practice session, “I am glad to have made the fastest in both practices today – thanks to the setup of the machine. I hope to do better in the qualifying tomorrow.” “I was not able to participate in Round 1 due to an injury. Ahmad Fariz Zafri of BUDAK KIMIA-JOND CHAIN LUBE RACING BY BRAAAP team took the fastest hit in the practice session of Round 2, Malaysia Superbike Championship which was held at the Sepang International Circuit. Fariz who rode aboard the Yamaha YZF-R25 made an impressive lap time when he clocked in at 2’42:799s. He took the fourth spot in Round 1 this season with a total of 20 points in Race 1 and 16 points in Race 3. In year 2020, Fariz took the third place in the overall standing with one podium in Race 2, completing the season with a collection of 42 points. While Fariz is no stranger to the scene of MSBK, year 2020 marked his move up the performance ladder. Commenting on the practice session, Fariz said, “First of all, thanks to my team for the preparations made for this round. The setup today is a little different from the previous round. The last round, the setup was a standard one but this time around we are utilising a more advanced engine which provides better speed.” “To be honest, I am not very satisfied as there is a lot of improvement to be made. The weather today has been good; bright and sunny. Rahimi Nabil Razu of TME MOTORSPORTS clocked in fastest for the practice session of YAMALUBE Y16ZR Race MasterClass in Round 2, Malaysia Superbike Championship. In Round 1, Rahimi was placed at the 27 th spot when he failed to collect any points. However, Rahimi made fastest today when he clocked in at 2’52:172s. Commenting on the race, Rahimi said, “In practice session 1 today, I was still not very comfortable with the machine. In practice 2, I tried my best to get accustomed to the machine.” “I followed the moves of other riders and learnt from there. Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin of YAMAHA GEN BLU RACING TEAM ASEAN has certainly made waves with his great showmanship in the arena of motorcycle racing and he will be back this weekend for Round 2 of the Malaysia Superbike Championship (MSBK) at the Sepang International Circuit. In the previous round of the championship, Kasma awed fans and supporters with his performances when he bagged the podium thrice in one weekend, twice at the first place and once at the second. Kasma was unbeatable as he stormed ahead in Race 1 making it almost impossible for his rival to make the cut. In Race 2 however, Kasma’s performances were challenged when his machine took an unexpected turn with some mechanical issues. Slowing down towards the end of the final lap, his contender made his big move and glided to victory. Kasma landed in second place. Kasma was not utterly disappointed though as he knew that he had what it takes to take the winning spot once again. With his dexterity and swift move, he hit the circuit confidently and took bold strides throughout the laps. Towards the chequered flag, Kasma did not waste a second as he stormed ahead and clocked in fastest. The 22-year-old lad has been on many celebratory journeys in the last few years. He has displayed outstanding expertise in the riding scene which showcased his ability to take calculated risks during the race. Commenting on the upcoming race, Kasma said, “I do not have any particular target for Round 2 but I can foresee that it would be a challenging feat with the likes of Zaqhwan and Azlan as well as the entry of Azroy in the MSBK1000 A class. Nevertheless, I will try to be on the podium once again.” Kasma has also been actively involved in other championships this year and has definitely showcased his flexibility in adapting to different sets of machines. He said, “So far, there has been no overlap in the championships. As such, it has not been tough to manage between championships despite the differences in the handling of machines. I have enough time to recover and make preparations for the different championships that I am involved in. Osama Mareai is no longer a stranger to the Malaysia Superbike Championship (MSBK). He is all geared up for the challenge that Round 2 is bound to bring at the Sepang International Circuit. The Yemeni born and raised rider found his passion in motorcycle racing since he was a kid and is the first Yemeni in history to have embraced professional riding. His venture into motorcycle racing stemmed when he came to Malaysia to pursue his tertiary education and found the opportunity to race professionally on a recognised platform – MSBK. While his family does not support his endeavours considering motorcycle racing comes with its own hazards, he nevertheless took it as a challenge that would eventually prove a different perspective among those who share the same sentiments as his family. Commenting on the hazards of motorcycle racing, Osama said, “I love speed. So, it is a lot safer to practice such a dangerous hobby like this in a safer, secured environment – race circuits to be precise, moreover in a professional racing platform. In my opinion, MSBK is one of the best platforms there is to take my passion to another level.” This season, Osama has shown improvements which led to his win over the weekend in Round 1. He marked the fastest for Race 2 and Race 3 despite the brake issues that he encountered throughout the weekend. While he took the “Weekend Warrior” trophy at the end of the race weekend, Osama was confident that he could have performed better if it was not for the mechanical issues. He said, “At the moment, we are still working on the brake issues. We have upgraded some parts as well and are hoping for the best outcome. Apart from the machine, I have also been training on my MiniGP bike at the go kart Sepang and I also do a little bit of Supermoto and Motocross for seat time. I also keep up to a good fitness workout routine, flexibility mobility, endurance and strength training to buck up on my overall performances.” On challenges, Osama said, “I am trying to hit anywhere below 2.11 and I am positive that I am able to achieve it. My machine may be the oldest bike on the grid but I probably just need a little bit of track time at Sepang since I do not ride there as often. It is challenging to race against the factory teams since they have unlimited budget and spare parts which we don’t get to match but I will give it my best shot with whatever that we have.” Osama has been riding on the circuit since 2019. Khairul Idham Pawi of BOON SIEW HONDA RACING TEAM who made impressive moves in Race 1 and Race 2, Round 1 of the MSBK600 class in the Malaysia Superbike Championship will return to Round 2 this weekend at the Sepang International Circuit. The nail-biting battle between Khairul fondly known as KIP and his teammate became even more exciting when KIP barged in first in Race 2 once again after his victory in Race 1. While the show went on with its usual flow in Race 3, it ended with a twist at the final lap when KIP’s machine gave way, instantly opening the pathway for his teammate to grab the top spot on the podium. With his tyre almost done for the day, KIP struggled to get to the chequered flag just in time to take the 7th place with a total of 9 points to add on to his overall points. Race 3 was a perfect example of luck outsmarting the dexterity of a full-fledged rider however the defeat was not something that would take KIP’s shine away. KIP is already working on his next moves for the coming round. Commenting on the coming race, KIP said, “For Round 2, I have been spending more time on the machine as this would further enhance my riding abilities and provide me a better lap time.” “My biggest challenge in MSBK would definitely be my very own teammate, Azroy. Of course, no doubt that other riders are equally challenging too. Apart from that, challenges also come from the machine itself. Looking at the example from my previous race, it is not always about the riding techniques or rider’s ability. At times, there are unforeseen incidents due to the machine. Farish Hafiy Farid Sezli of SIC Racing set a benchmark in the MSBK250 A class when he created a hat-trick in Round 1 of the Malaysia Superbike Championship. He is taking his efforts one notch up for the coming round at the Sepang International Circuit this weekend. The rider aboard the Kawasaki Ninja 250 bagged a staggering 75 points when he took the top spot on the podium thrice in one weekend. His performances outwitted that of his opponents when he had luck on his side to compliment his manoeuvring skills that brought triple victory to him. Commenting on his machine, Farish said, “I truly appreciate the capacities of the machine especially its braking system which allows for easy manoeuvring in terms of entry and exit as well as high-speed braking. The machine is suitable for bigger circuits and it gives me more confidence riding it.” Farish has certainly showcased some interesting riding styles. With his 3-time win in the last round, he is confident that he has grasped some crucial data and the much-needed practice to prepare him further for Round 2. Muhammad Fauzi Hassan has always been highly competitive in the MSBK250 B class of the Malaysia Superbike Championship (MSBK). In Round 2 which was held at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC), Fauzi put on a good show when he bagged the “Weekend Warrior” title with two fastest spots in Race 1 and Race 3 and one second fastest spot. Fauzi did not make his name only in recent times. In the year 2021, Fauzi took the win in Round 1 when he made fastest in Race 1 and Race 2. He obtained 66 points in total which placed him at the number one spot. In Round 2 however, Fauzi took one step down on the podium at the second spot with a total of 56 points. This year, Fauzi who rode aboard the Kawasaki Ninja 250 made his comeback. For a rider who may not have the professional manoeuvring skills, he has displayed the ability to handle his machine and steer his wheels consistently throughout the race. Commenting on the upcoming race, Fauzi said, “For Round 2, we are quite prepared especially with the data that we have obtained in Round 1. We hope to do better definitely, especially in ensuring that we hold on to the title. It would be tough with the participation of other riders in Round 2 and we won’t take it lightly. If there is an opportunity, we will strike it in the best way possible.” Fauzi has been self-funding to take his passion and calibre to greater heights. He said, “The bulk of the funds are of our own. Muhd Fareez Afeez A. Rahman of SINGDECA RACING took the win in Race 2 of the Yamalube Yamaha Y16ZR Race MasterClass. He will once again take a stride in Round 2 of the Superbike Malaysia Championship (MSBK) this weekend. The race class which made its debut in Round 1 saw 30 riders aboard the Yamaha Y16ZR engaging in a highly competitive ride, hoping to make history with the first win. Fareez was not left out of the mission. While he put on a good fight with the rest of the riders, Fareez only managed to score himself the fifth spot on the podium in Race 1. Nevertheless, the battle wasn’t complete until Race 2 was over. The next day, Fareez bucked up to embrace the challenge that the class brings with it. With the rush of adrenaline pumping through the bodies of the young talented riders who were handpicked for this race class, it was not an easy feat for Fareez. Throughout the race, Fareez was seen struggling to maintain his pace but he made quick moves towards the last two laps to take the lead. He then took speed and completed the race fastest for the day. Commenting on the race, Fareez said, “As the race class is new, it required some time on my part to learn the handling of the machine and gauge the strengths of other riders. While Race 1 was alright, I was more confident in Race 2.” “Riding in a race class with riders riding the same machine poses different sets of challenges. So, it truly depends on the ability to understand the machine and the overall individual performance. Riders are all equally of high calibre and at the end of the day, it is about finding the right techniques and pace to distinguish from the others.” Fareez is definitely poised for the coming round and with his win in Race 2, he looks forward to taking yet another win. Currently, he sits at the first spot in the overall standings with a total of 36 points. “I am looking forward to a win in Round 2 for sure. The preparations entail re-structuring of strategies as well as ensuring that my overall fitness suits the needs of the race class.
