Kasma who appeared third last season overall with 110 points made the fastest time when he clocked in at 2’08:132s aboard the Yamaha YZF-R1 with a gap of 1.291s. Commenting on the session, Kasma said, “During the free practice earlier, I was merely managing my expectations and experimenting on the new setup of the machine. We did not have a specific target but most importantly is fine tuning the setup of the machine for tomorrow’s qualifying session. I hope to get the pole position for sure which will contribute to an easier race.” Coming in at the second fastest was Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman of HORIZON RACING TEAM, logging in at 2’09:423s. Khairul Idham Pawi of BOON SIEW HONDA RACING TEAM clocked in fastest in the practice session of the Malaysia Superbike Championship for the MSBK600 class. Khairul took a stride aboard the Honda CBR600RR among some of the best names in the country during the practice session and breezed in the fastest at 2’10:642s. In the last season, Khairul took the fourth spot overall in the category with a total of 72 points. Commenting on the session, Khairul said, “For the first practice session, we were not able to make it due to the rain. We were only able to get on with practice two when the weather was better. The setup for this race is different from the ones that we have ridden in Asia in terms of suspension and standards. Muhd Irfan Haykal Amidi of BOON SIEW HONDA RACING TEAM showed great enthusiasm today when he clocked in fastest during the free practice session of the MSBK250 A class at the Sepang International Circuit. The Malaysian rider seemed to have found his pace aboard the Honda CBR250RR. He clocked in at 2’31:042s with a gap of 0.712s from the rider next in line. Despite the rainy weather earlier during the day, the MSBK250 category riders continued on with the practices to get their best time. Commenting on the practice, Irfan said, “I tried to find the right setup with the machine. I have not ridden a 250cc machine. It is trial and error. I followed the line and picked up from the other riders on the manner and style of riding. The competition is definitely there but I will try my best to do well in the race.” Clocking in second fastest was Muhammad Farish Hafiy Farid Sezli of SIC RACING TEAM at 2’31:754s. Khoo Chee Yen of Hiap Aik Suzuki Racing Team will hit the circuit in the MSBK1000 B class in the season opener of Malaysia Superbike Championship (MSBK) which will be held at the Sepang International Circuit from 30th– 31st July 2022. The Suzuki GSX-1000R rider fondly known as CY Khoo bagged the winning trophy at the end of Round 2 when he scored 66 points overall with two wins on the top spot and one win at the second spot. In Round 1, Chee Yen took the second spot with a total of 65 points. CY Khoo clocked in his fastest at 2’17:017 last season. Additionally, Hiap Aik Suzuki Racing Team takes on a new name for its team – Mobilub Suzuki Racing Team (MRST) with Mobilub, a long-term title sponsor onboard. Commenting on the upcoming race, CY Khoo said, “With more than 6 months off-season, the team engaged the AS25 Academy to design training programmes that helped us refine our riding techniques as well maintain our fitness level. So far, we have come a long way with the programme, thanks to Mr Azlan Shah.” “As for the machine, we definitely have new racing parts and setup which we hope would help the team with an enhanced performance and an improved lap-time.” With many experienced riders onboard for the MSBK1000 class, CY Khoo is determined to get back into the racing rhythm and hopes to see more riders rise up to the challenge. “The challenge for this season, I presume will still be the same. Muhammad Ibrahim Bin Mohd Norrodin of SIC Racing will be making waves once again in the MSB600 class at the Malaysia Superbike Championship (MSBK) Season 6, the season opener which will be held between 30th -31st July 2022 at the Sepang International Circuit. Last season, Ibrahim was on a roll in Round 2 when he swept the top spot on the podium for all three races, making a quick recovery from the shortcomings in Round 1. Ibrahim who rode aboard the Yamaha YZF-R6 recorded his fastest lap on the timesheet at 2’10:089s during Race 3 placing him at the second spot overall from the seventh spot in Round 1. Commenting on his performance last year, Ibrahim said, “It was a great moment for me and I was overjoyed with my hat-trick in the last round. It was a tough fight and I made too many mistakes in Round 1 which resulted in losing a bulk of the points. I had to make a comeback in Round 2 and although I scored maximum points in all races, I was only able to achieve P2 overall for the championship.” For the upcoming season, Ibrahim is more confident with the experiences he has gained last year and aspires to bag as many points as he could. “I will give my best shot to guard my points. The hope is to obtain the highest points and to take home the overall champion title. With that in mind, I have been training relentlessly. Bike training is crucial and I have been doing that a lot. I also work on my mental and physical endurance. The Malaysia Superbike Championship (MSBK), Season 6 will kickstart with its season opener at the Sepang International Circuit from 30th-31st July 2022. The MSBK250 class of the championship anticipates the arrival of new faces at the scene. Among them, Farres Putra Mohd Fadhill, Champion of Ohvale Malaysia Championship, 2021 who will be taking a stride for a new challenge. Farres has been actively involved in the motorsport arena since the age of five. He started off with the KBS Mini Cub Prix Championship and gained momentum throughout the years. Currently, he is competing in the Asia Talent Cup Championship. Commenting on his entry, Farres said, “This is my first time in the MSBK Championship and I am determined to learn, progress over time and salvage my winning moments. MSBK is very much new to me and there are tricks and trades that I will have to learn. It is not an overnight achievement but a challenge that would require picking up in a short period of time. The Malaysia Superbike Championship (MSBK) is scheduled for its first race on 30th July 2022 at the Sepang International Circuit. The 6th season of the championship will see a three round race comprising the MSBK Superbike, MSBK600 and MSBK250 categories with home-grown talents as well as international riders making their debut. The first two rounds will run three races whereas the last round will run two. Commenting on the championship, Ron Hogg, Promotions Director of Two Wheels Motor Racing Sdn. Bhd said, “We are thrilled to organise the MSBK once again with an ease in restrictions. The last season was held with three races cramped into two rounds. This year, as we normalise the new norm and ease into the transition, we are looking into minimising the impact of a heavy schedule with an additional round.” “We have our all-time favourite riders who have set a benchmark in the championship coming back to realise greater goals and capacities. We are also eager to introduce newbies who are ready to mark their territories and unveil their innate abilities and talents.
