MALAYSIA SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP SET FOR A NEW SEASON
The Malaysia Superbike Championship (MSBK) is scheduled for its first race on 30th July 2022 at the Sepang International Circuit.
The 6th season of the championship will see a three round race comprising the MSBK Superbike, MSBK600 and MSBK250 categories with home-grown talents as well as international riders making their debut. The first two rounds will run three races whereas the last round will run two.
Commenting on the championship, Ron Hogg, Promotions Director of Two Wheels Motor Racing Sdn. Bhd said, “We are thrilled to organise the MSBK once again with an ease in restrictions. The last season was held with three races cramped into two rounds. This year, as we normalise the new norm and ease into the transition, we are looking into minimising the impact of a heavy schedule with an additional round.”
“We have our all-time favourite riders who have set a benchmark in the championship coming back to realise greater goals and capacities. We are also eager to introduce newbies who are ready to mark their territories and unveil their innate abilities and talents. MSBK fundamentally sets a platform for aspiring riders to present themselves on the right path, at the forefront of motorsports. As such, we hope that our efforts would be able to encourage more riders to come forth and realise their true potentials.”
Chief Executive Officer of Sepang International Circuit, Azhan Shafriman Hanif said, “We hope to see the increase of local and international entries for this year’s edition. MSBK’s appeal are growing stronger with more races and activities coming along this year. This is the perfect time for everyone to witness MSBK from the Main Grandstand. Wishing all the best to the riders and teams for the upcoming Round 1 event.”
Additionally, a new class has been established within the championship to provide a different set of exposure to selected talents from the PETRONAS Malaysian Cub Prix teams. Yamaha Y16ZR Race MasterClass will kickstart with 30 riders who will compete in all three rounds for this season.
MSBK Championship will be broadcasted live on Astro Arena.
