KHAIRUL AIMS HIGHER

Round 2 of the AEON CREDIT MAM MALAYSIA SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP will be held at Sepang International Circuit this weekend. Khairul Idham Pawi of Honda Racing Malaysia is not about to give up and will continue his mission to dominate the MSBK600 race category. It was a brilliant show when Khairul broke away from the pressure of the troop, drew a gap comfortable enough to make minor mistakes along the way without any chances of being struck by his closest contender before taking the win in Race 1. When he replicated the same moves in Race 2, it worked fantastically for him however, a few turns away from taking a double-win, he was hit with an unfortunate incident that left him on the gravel and with zero-points. That gave his closest contender, Anupab Sarmoon of Yamaha Thailand Racing Team, who glided comfortably, a victory-pass and a spot on the top of the overall charts. With Anupab out of the championship in Round 2, Khairul has his roads cleared for victory once again with almost zero rivalry from the other contenders. The Malaysian rider who has ridden aboard a 600cc machine for a long time is not only well-versed with the dynamics of the machine but is also equipped with the right skills and competency needed to overcome any kind of challenges in the race category. Will Khairul be able to take lead of the chart from his current standings at the fourth spot with a total of 25 points? Commenting on the race, Khairul said, “It was truly an unlucky moment for me at Race 2 but that’s part of racing. Of course, I was pissed and I really thought I had it already – a 50-pointer but, luck was not on my side on that day. It’s alright. The most important thing is recognising my ability to practice the best form of racing, rise up once again and withdraw from the troop progressively over the laps which will also be my strategy in the coming rounds. I have a good machine which gives me the added advantage of speeding ahead of the others. Also, the fact that I am quite familiar with the circuit ground and that I’ve done this many times add on to the best part of riding in the championship.” “Three rounds to go and I will do my best to make the most of my time in the championship. Apart from winning the race, it is also part of the plan to gain more mileage that would keep me worked out for other championships. My goal for the coming round is to hope that luck will be on my side moving forward so that I can keep banking in 25 points in all races. I want to take the championship title and hopefully while having fun riding, I would also be able to inject the right kind of pressure to the contenders.”

QAYIM PLANS TO MAKE THE MOST OF THE COMPETITION

Round 2 of the AEON CREDIT MAM MALAYSIA SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP will be held at Sepang International Circuit this weekend. Qayim Razin Razali of Horizon Racing Team is pumped up in keeping the winning momentum in the MSBK250 B race category. It was definitely a tough show in the MSBK250 B race category but Qayim pulled out his best shots to score a double-win and the Weekend Champion title. The Malaysian rider went on to showcase his competency and ability to withstand the challenges that came along with the race category. With three more rounds to go, it takes a lot of courage, strength and confidence to keep the momentum going. Will the rider be able to present a similar show in the coming rounds? Commenting on the race, Qayim said, “One of the biggest challenges is racing alongside riders from Group A. While I’m focused on leading Group B, I’m also navigating battles with faster, more experienced riders. It’s a mental and physical test to stay sharp, hold my position and push my own limits, especially in a competition where every second counts. My bike is performing at its peak and right now, I feel like my machine is an extension of myself and that’s a massive advantage. As for disadvantages, every setup has room for improvement but we’re constantly fine-tune to stay competitive.” “Racing in the MSBK250 B category is a thrill! It’s also a huge learning opportunity as every lap teaches me more about racing lines, body positioning and strategy. The competition is intense though but that’s the best part of racing. In my opinion, Kabilesh from India and Carlsen Solis from the Philippines are my toughest rivals. They both have more track time and experience which makes them strong benchmarks for me. I’m using this as motivation and I’ll do everything I can to stay close, learn from them and raise my level throughout the race weekend. My mission is clear: I want to win the overall title in Group B and claim the title of Weekend Warrior Champion. That’s what I’m working toward every session.”

NO TIME TO WASTE FOR ADIE

NO TIME TO WASTE FOR ADIE Round 2 of the AEON CREDIT MAM MALAYSIA SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP will take place at Sepang International Circuit this weekend. Md Adie Putra Sukarno of Welly Assorted Rawang Racing Team will buck up further to retain his position in the Berjaya Sompo R15M Race Elites race category. With 40 points in hand, Adie currently rakes it at the highest spot in the overall charts but what are the chances in maintaining his spot with a bunch of aggressive and bold riders waiting to strike? Md Izam Ikmal of GTMax and Md Izzat Zaidi of TME Racing, both who took a win each in the season opener are only 2-points and 8-points shy respectively from stealing the show. It’s not going to be an easy feat for Adie but at the same time, he is also one who could and would fight competitively with his closest contenders. With 30 participants in the racing series, it is not one that is easy to dominate. The rivalry is quite extensive especially with most riders coming from a strong racing background. Adie himself holds quite a reputation in the national racing championship especially during his time in the one-make series before graduating and taking a leap into the CP125 race category. Having said that, he is definitely equipped with the right skills and riding techniques. The only thing that matters is strategizing and hitting it right on time. Commenting on the race, Adie said, “For me, the ride is not as easy but what matters most is the ability to stay focused and being consistent throughout the race. I will have to achieve a lap time that showcases improvements and with that, it would help me understand my competence level on a progressive basis. I will try my best to enhance my performance, work on eliminating limitations and build my fitness level, physically and mentally so that I can maintain my position in each race.” “The competition is quite strong from other contenders and of course, my riding techniques has to be good to compete competitively with them. Every one of them has their own strengths and weakness, undoubtedly. They all come with strong backgrounds and experience. In terms of the machine, there is not much difference from the underbone machine that I am used to riding however, body positioning is key in optimising the performance. This season, my target is to make it to the podium in all the races and hopefully, I will be able to achieve it.”

On the final lap, Azroy delivered an impressive performance, overtaking Kasma to win the race with a time of 21’15:889s. Azroy said, “Yesterday, in Race 1, we faced brake issues and couldn’t make it to the podium. Alhamdulillah, today there were no issues with my bike. During the race, I intentionally let Kasma lead as his pace was strong. He had a gap of 0:100s towards the end, so I decided to conserve my energy and attack only on the last lap, and my strategy paid off.” Kasma finished in second place with a time of 21’16:507s, and Adam Norrodin of AMI SUZUKI MOTORSPORT took third with a time of 21’24:132s.
