The MSBK250 B Class has definitely injected some interesting twists to the race category this season. Muhd Amir Izzat Rozali of HORIZON RACING TEAM is further amped for Round 3 of the Malaysia Superbike Championship which will be held in Sepang this weekend. As a privateer, Amir has displayed quite the skill in the race category for a number of years now. In 2020, he bagged the second spot on the podium with a total of 65 points in the one-race season. Although he was absent from the scene in 2021, he came back this season with a strong performance in Round 2 and grabbed the “Weekend Warrior” title. For aspiring riders like Amir, MSBK has become a ground that helps them further accentuate their innate abilities and gives deeper meaning to their passion. According to him, “MSBK is the only race that offers the 250cc race category in our country. It is highly organised on a proper circuit like the Sepang International Circuit which gives the team and I an opportunity to ride alongside professional riders thus enhancing ourselves further in the motorcycle racing scene.” Amir was not able to take part in Round 1 and despite that, he rode steadily to the chequered flag in all three races in Round 2. He said, “I could not participate in Round 1 due to unavoidable matters but I was thrilled to have been back for Round 2. Of course, there were many prior preparations done but my biggest guide was my past experiences in the MSBK250 back in 2019.” “Not forgetting the team and crew members who have worked on the machine to produce one that is competitive to compete in MSBK. It is one of the crucial aspects in racing to have a machine setup that complements one’s riding style and in my case, the machine was perfect that way. The suspension setting was good for my body weight too. Overall, the compliments go to the team who has done a great job with the machine.” With Round 3 being the final race for the season, Amir is looking at keeping up to his performances. He said, “I will try my level best to further improve my lap time and be more consistent. I want to retain my position. In the MSBK250 A Class, Muhd Irfan Haykal Amidi of BOON SIEW HONDA RACING TEAM fought a good fight towards victory. It was a total domination of top three positions by Idlan, Irfan and Emil in Race 3 when they fled ahead of the troop, engaging in a heated battle of who will have the final win. The trio engaged in a rhythm that saw them exchanging positions in a bid to brag the winning title. Up until lap four, it was a complete pressure for the three riders to keep the end of their bargain when tragedy struck and one rider went down. For the remaining laps, Irfan and Idlan continued the show, taking active strides in the lead position. By the seventh lap, Irfan displayed dominance as he emerged at P1 and while Idlan was not ready to be defeated, Irfan went on to steal the show. He clocked in at 20’19:470s. Commenting on the race, Irfan said, “First of all, a big thank you to everyone who has been involved in this championship this week. As for the MSBK250 B Class, Muhammad Fauzi Hasan made the fastest in Race 3 but Muhd Amir Izzat Rozali bagged the Weekend Warrior trophy with the most achieved points. Throughout the race, Fauzi has shown an improved performance compared to Race 1 and Race 2. He took the ninth spot on the grid and while he grappled in the first few laps to find his pace ahead of the other riders, Fauzi only managed to take lead among the MSBK250 B Class riders from lap five onwards. He then held on to his position with the right speed ensuring that no mistakes were made and no opportunities were given to the riders tailing him. He made it to the chequered flag at 21’39:198s. Amir who has been leading with the most overall points as the fastest in Race 1 and Race 2 came in third in Race 3. Amir was seen consistently taking strides and played the smart move to keep his points counting. His strategies worked when he clocked in behind Ahmad Fariz Zafri at 21’40:625s. Muhd Idlan Hakimi of BOON SIEW HONDA RACING TEAM made his winning moves and bagged the top spot on the podium in Race 2, Round 2 of Malaysia Superbike Championship in the MSBK250 A Class. With Farish Hafiy out for Race 2, the battle for the top three positions were among trio Idlan, Irfan and Emil. Idlan who took the second spot in Race 1 yesterday came in with a different mindset today and proved his prowess in what was seen as a challenging feat. In the first three laps, the duo of BOON SIEW HONDA RACING TEAM was unbeatable and while Emil kept picking up speed, he just couldn’t find the race pace to break in between the tight gap. Meanwhile, Idlan who was taking lead tried his best to guard his position however Irfan managed to slide ahead of him in lap 4. By lap four, Emil managed to take lead with Irfan tailing and Idlan at P3. As the race heated up between the trio and with Idlan adamant to take the win, he managed to slide back ahead. Muhd Irfan Haykal Amidi of BOON SIEW HONDA RACING TEAM took the win at Race 1, Round 2 of the Malaysia Superbike Championship (MSBK) in the MSBK250 A Class. It was a close battle among the top four riders who were on a chase towards earning the winning title. Idlan took the pole position on the grid, followed by Farish on the second spot, Irfan on the third and Emil at the fourth. For the first seven laps, Idlan was seen swiftly taking strides around the circuit at the lead position. While the trio behind him were engaged in a switch of positions between laps, Idlan remained focused and poised at P1. By the last lap however, Farish managed to boldly slide into the P1 position. Luck was not on his side though when seconds into P1, he took a fall which gave Idlan who were at arm’s length the opportunity to quickly grab back the lead position. As the race continued with Idlan at P1 and with Farish out of the equation, it was then a fight between the top three trio. At the last turn, a twist to the plot took place when Irfan slid ahead of his teammate Idlan. That was his winning moment as Irfan took speed and completed the race at 20’18:124s. Commenting on the race, Irfan said, “In the beginning, I only trailed the riders ahead of me and stayed put in the top four groups. Amir began the race from the 7 th spot on the grid. In lap 1, Amir managed to slide into the top five troop however fell one spot down in lap 2. By the third lap, Amir was already in control of his machine, managing it at a consistent pace ahead of the rest in the B Class. It was then all about keeping up to the momentum, in guard of his position. Yesterday during the practice session, Amir set his best time at 2’45:467s and 2’40:824s in the qualifying session this morning. Amir completed the fastest in 21’27:946s. Commenting on the race, Amir said, “It was a good start today but towards the end, I found it a little difficult to manage the machine. With Round 2 being the first round for Idlan this season, he showcased quite the speed in practice session 1 when he clocked in at 2’30:123s and although he took a few seconds short to making a better lap time in practice session 2, he still made it the fastest. In year 2021, Idlan put on a good show in Round 2 of the championship when he scored second spot in Race 1 and third spot in Race 2. He did not participate in Round 1. In year 2020, Idlan emerged at the top spot when he won Round 1. This year, Idlan will continue to ride aboard the Honda CBR250RR. Ahmad Fariz Zafri of BUDAK KIMIA-JOND CHAIN LUBE RACING BY BRAAAP team took the fastest hit in the practice session of Round 2, Malaysia Superbike Championship which was held at the Sepang International Circuit. Fariz who rode aboard the Yamaha YZF-R25 made an impressive lap time when he clocked in at 2’42:799s. He took the fourth spot in Round 1 this season with a total of 20 points in Race 1 and 16 points in Race 3. In year 2020, Fariz took the third place in the overall standing with one podium in Race 2, completing the season with a collection of 42 points. While Fariz is no stranger to the scene of MSBK, year 2020 marked his move up the performance ladder. Commenting on the practice session, Fariz said, “First of all, thanks to my team for the preparations made for this round. The setup today is a little different from the previous round. The last round, the setup was a standard one but this time around we are utilising a more advanced engine which provides better speed.” “To be honest, I am not very satisfied as there is a lot of improvement to be made. The weather today has been good; bright and sunny. Farish Hafiy Farid Sezli of SIC Racing set a benchmark in the MSBK250 A class when he created a hat-trick in Round 1 of the Malaysia Superbike Championship. He is taking his efforts one notch up for the coming round at the Sepang International Circuit this weekend. The rider aboard the Kawasaki Ninja 250 bagged a staggering 75 points when he took the top spot on the podium thrice in one weekend. His performances outwitted that of his opponents when he had luck on his side to compliment his manoeuvring skills that brought triple victory to him. Commenting on his machine, Farish said, “I truly appreciate the capacities of the machine especially its braking system which allows for easy manoeuvring in terms of entry and exit as well as high-speed braking. The machine is suitable for bigger circuits and it gives me more confidence riding it.” Farish has certainly showcased some interesting riding styles. With his 3-time win in the last round, he is confident that he has grasped some crucial data and the much-needed practice to prepare him further for Round 2. Commenting on Round 2, he said, “I will do my best in the next round. For sure, I am targeting podium for all races. I am doing the necessary training to ensure that I am prepared physically and mentally.
