Round 3 of the Malaysia Superbike Championship took place today at the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit. Shahrol Syazras of Malaysia was the fastest today in Race 2 of the Honda CBR250RR Challenge Cup race category and Nguyen Duch Thanh claimed overall champion title. It was a good battle between Syazras, Darwisy and Duch Thanh. While Duch Thanh showcased quite the strength with lap time during free practice sessions, Syazras and Darwisy were really good at defending their positions during the race. The scene saw the duo ahead of the troop and fighting for the best spot. However, Darwisy succumbed to Syazras who dominated the race category. Duch Thanh landed third. As usual, Darwisy and Syazras engaged in a battle while Duch Thanh found his spot behind them. The race went on with the duo in the same position with Darwisy strongly leading while Syazras worked on his pace to close the gaps. On lap 7 however, Syazras finally found his moment to strike and switched positions with Darwisy. On the final lap, Syazras began picking up speed but Darwisy was not pleased and went on to pressure the former. Meanwhile, Duch Thanh maintained his pace at P3. At the last turn, Darwisy tried to overtake from the outside but Syazras made a quick recovery before heading for a win 20’22:157s. Taking the second fastest spot was Ahmad Darwisy of Malaysia at 20’22:301s. Nguyen Duch Thanh of Vietnam of made it third fastest at 20’41:190s and claimed the overall champion title. Commenting on the championship, he said, “This is the first time I am joining in an international racing platform. It has given me a whole lot of motivation to be honest. Round 3 of the Malaysia Superbike Championship took place today at the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit. Md Shahrol Syazras of Malaysia marked the fastest today in Race 1 of the Honda CBR250RR Challenge Cup race category. This morning in the qualifying session, Shahrol Syazras of Malaysia picked up on his performance compared to yesterday in the FP session and made it fastest at 2’31:207s. Darwisy of Malaysia clocked in second fastest with his best lap time at 2’31:715s. At third fastest was Nguyen Duch Thanh of Vietnam with his best lap time at 2’32:853s. The battle between Syazras, Darwish and Duch Thanh in Race 1 was never-ending as the trio fought to maintain their positions. As the race picked up, Darwish came into lead position with Syazras and Duch Thanh trailing closely at P2 and P3 respectively. However, as the one lap after the other was closed, the battle was more evident between Darwish and Syazras who kept pressuring his contender before finally taking over. Darwish was not happy and went on to challenge Syazras. On the final lap, Syazras went on to maintain his momentum, careful not to make mistakes and although Darwish attempted to make his move. Syazras went on to complete the race first at 20’22:021. Commenting on the race, Syazras said, “The race today went very well in my opinion and I am pleased with the end result. It was tough for sure, especially in the beginning but I tried to remain consistent throughout the race. I only stayed focused and made sure that I was mentally strong. The machine had no issues and it was a smooth ride, frankly. Of course, the ultimate rivals are Darwish and Duch Thanh. They are equally consistent and strong on the scene. Round 3 of the Malaysia Superbike Championship began today at the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit. Nguyen Duc Thanh of Vietnam marked the fastest today in the free practice session, combined in the Honda CBR250RR Challenge Cup race category. In the FP1 session that happened this morning, Ahmad Darwisy of Malaysia scored the fastest lap time with his best at 2’33:348s. The second fastest was Duch Thanh with his best lap time at 2’35:046s. Adib Hareez of Malaysia made third fastest with his best lap time at 2’35:890s. In FP2, Duch Thanh switched positions with Ahmad Darwisy and made it fastest with his best lap time at 2’33:257s while the latter made it second fastest with his best lap time at 2’33:752s. Shahrol Syazras of Malaysia clocked in third fastest with his best lap time at 2’34:631s. Duch Thanh who made it fastest in the FP sessions at 2’33:257s commented, “My challenge is the rain I suppose. It has been raining all the while. Although I am leading the way, it has not been easy because of the weather. Apart from that, there are two riders who are strong in this race category and they are way faster than me so that is definitely another challenge for me. Everyone in this round is no doubt a competitor for me. My machine is in a good condition for now. The suspension is still new because the machine is new therefore it is very soft and when I brake, I slide a little. Race 2, Round 1 of Malaysia Superbike Championship was held at the Sepang International Circuit today. Cao Viet Nam of Vietnam celebrated victory in the Honda CBR250RR Challenge Cup. Cao Viet Nam was off to a good start and throughout the race, the competition was off his back as he began drawing a comfortable gap. Behind him, the fight was between Nguyen Duch Thanh and Firdaus Hamdan. However, Duch Thanh kept a good momentum throughout and finished the race second fastest with Firdaus behind him. Once again, Cao Viet Nam was off to a great start today. Haziq Hamdan stayed close behind. By the end of lap 2, Duch Thanh was ahead of Firdaus but the duo remained poised in their positions. While Viet Nam went on with his pace, the battle was on-going between Duch Thanh, Haziq and Firdaus for the top three positions. By the end of lap 5, Haziq overtook Duch Thanh. With two more laps to go, Firdaus pushed really hard and finally overtook Haziq. Viet Nam went on to complete the race at 20’21:555s. Commenting on the race, Cao Viet Nam said, “I guess this place is good for me to win. It serves as a great platform for me to train for ARRC. The weather has been good as well and there was no distraction or obstruction throughout. I am grateful for today.” In second place was Firdaus, logging in at 20’46:420s. At third spot was Haziq at 20’46:619s. With both the races combined, Cao Viet Nam takes the win followed by Md Firdaus Hamdan at second place and Nguyen Duch Thanh at third place. Race 1, Round 1 of the Malaysia Superbike Championship began with a sunny day at the Sepang International Circuit. Cao Viet Nam of Vietnam raced impressively to clock in fastest in the Honda CBR250RR Challenge Cup. During the qualifying session earlier today, Cao Viet Nam of Vietnam once again went on to make the fastest lap time at 2’31:479s. His countryman, Nguyen Duc Thanh made the second fastest lap time at 2’32:295s. At the fastest was Haziq Hamdan of Malaysia who clocked in his best at 2’32:987s. Viet Nam was quick to take the lead in his race category with Duch Thanh at P2. By the end of lap 2, Haziq overtook Duch Thanh. Mid-race, Duch Thanh managed to get ahead of Haziq. Meanwhile Viet Nam seemed to be in control of his position as he went on to take control of the race. He has drawn a comfortable gap with the rider in tow. The more apparent battle was between Duch Tanh and Haziq and with another two laps to go, Haziq superseded Duch Thanh. The duo went on to exchange positions but Viet Nam played it cool with the right amount of space with the troop behind. In the last few laps, Firdaus managed to move in between Duch Thanh and Haziq. As Viet Nam went on to complete the race fastest at, Duch Thanh managed his position at P2 before completing second fastest at 20’18:615s. Commenting on the session, Viet Nam said, “It was a fun race today. I managed to get a good pace and stayed at the same position throughout the race. The weather today was alright although it rained earlier today. There is another race to go tomorrow and hopefully I retain my position as today.” Duch Thanh of Vietnam clocked in at 20’33:471s. Round 1 of The Malaysia Superbike Championship Season 2023 began today at the Sepang International Circuit. Cao Viet Nam of Vietnam made the fastest lap time in the practice sessions, combined for the newly introduced Honda CBR250RR Challenge Cup. During practice session 1, Md Haziq Hamdan clocked in fastest at 2’35:202s. Adib Hareez clocked in with the second fastest lap time at 2’37:371s followed by Nguyen Duc Thanh at 2’38:674s. In practice session 2, Cao Viet Nam clocked in his best 2’32:715s. At second fastest was Nguyen Duc Thanh at 2’33:379s followed by Haziq Hamdan at the third fastest spot with his best time at 2’33:524s. Following the final practice, Cao Viet Nam emerged fastest in the practice sessions, combined at 2’32:715s. This would be his first time at the MSBK scene, nevertheless Viet Nam has experience riding at the circuit through his participation in the ARRC which definitely adds value to his riding techniques. Commenting on the session, Viet Nam said, “This is my first time in the MSBK championship and I am feeling really good about it. In this race category, all the machines are similar therefore, it is much easier to anticipate the performances of other riders. I like racing in bigger groups as it injects more of adrenaline rush therefore, this race category truly fulfils what I look for in racing. The challenge would be getting used to the machine as it is a standard machine. I have to pick up riding techniques that would work well for this machine. Other than that, I am looking forward to acing in the race tomorrow and on Sunday.” Second fastest for the day was Nguyen Duc Thanh at 2’33:379s followed by Haziq Hamdan at 2’33:524s.
