Race 1, Round 1 of the Malaysia Superbike Championship was off to a fantastic start today at the Sepang International Circuit. Md Irfan Haykal of Boon Siew Honda Racing Team took his first win for the season in the MSBK250 A race category. During the qualifying session earlier today, Irfan Haykal of Boon Siew Honda Racing Team clocked in the fastest lap time at 2’27:983s, taking the pole-position for the weekend and adding on to his advantage at the circuit. Second fastest was teammate Farid Hakimi at 2’28:116s. Geoffrey Revivan Emmanuel of Gusto Racing India logged third fastest at 2’30:956s. Irfan was seen fleeing ahead from his pole-position as soon as the race flagged off. He immediately dominated the circuit followed by his teammate Farid at P2. By the end of lap 2, Geoffrey who was at P4 pushed ahead into P3. By the end of lap 3, Irfan had drawn a gap of 8.810s away from Farid. The trio seemed comfortable with their positions and their momentum as Irfan went on to draw a wider gap. With another two more laps to go, Geoffrey went on to try his luck to close the gaps with Farid but Farid kept his composure as he went on with the final lap. Before the lap ended, Geoffrey struck and took P2. Meanwhile, Irfan was on his way to his first victory for the season. At the final lap, the battle between Farid and Geoffrey heated up. The duo entangled in an exchange of positions but Geoffrey kept his composure. At the final turn however, Farid took a slide from the outside and overtook Geoffrey before one last push towards the finish line. Irfan clocked in at 19’52:243s with a gap of 15.329s. Commenting on the race, Irfan said, “The machine has been really good for the race today. On my part, I tried to stay consistent and progressively drew a gap with my rider behind me. I must say that it was a great race and I have been really comfortable riding the machine. I am grateful for the win today.” Teammate Md Farid Hakimi took the second spot at 20’08:730s. Race 1, Round 1 of the Malaysia Superbike Championship got off to a great start today at the Sepang International Circuit today. Clocking in fastest was Rakshith Dave of CRA Motorsports India in the MSBK250 B race category. Earlier during the qualifying session, Ke Huan Ni went on to clock in fastest at 2’35:165s. At the second fastest was Rakshith Dave of CRA Motorsports India with his best at 2’35:169s. Nur Haikal Fikri of HJ Racing Team made the third fastest lap time at 2’35:172s. The battle between the riders began with Rakshith taking the lead followed by Izrul and Ezrix. The Indian rider was steady in his position as he went on to take charge. At P4, Ke Huan Ni was trying to move ahead but the riders remained consistent with their pace. Throughout the 8-lap race, the riders guarded their positions well. Rakshith went on to complete the race fastest at 1’10:190s. Commenting on the race, Rakshith said, “It was a good race today. I managed to stay among the group A riders. I was able to fight for a moment with them before they fled ahead. So then, I began the battle with the CBR250 Challenge Cup riders. To me, the layout is a good one and racing here has been challenging yet interesting. We did not expect it to rain though, although we were amazed at how fast it dried up. So, we were happy about that. Race 1, Round 1 of the Malaysia Superbike Championship began with a sunny day at the Sepang International Circuit. Cao Viet Nam of Vietnam raced impressively to clock in fastest in the Honda CBR250RR Challenge Cup. During the qualifying session earlier today, Cao Viet Nam of Vietnam once again went on to make the fastest lap time at 2’31:479s. His countryman, Nguyen Duc Thanh made the second fastest lap time at 2’32:295s. At the fastest was Haziq Hamdan of Malaysia who clocked in his best at 2’32:987s. Viet Nam was quick to take the lead in his race category with Duch Thanh at P2. By the end of lap 2, Haziq overtook Duch Thanh. Mid-race, Duch Thanh managed to get ahead of Haziq. Meanwhile Viet Nam seemed to be in control of his position as he went on to take control of the race. He has drawn a comfortable gap with the rider in tow. The more apparent battle was between Duch Tanh and Haziq and with another two laps to go, Haziq superseded Duch Thanh. The duo went on to exchange positions but Viet Nam played it cool with the right amount of space with the troop behind. In the last few laps, Firdaus managed to move in between Duch Thanh and Haziq. As Viet Nam went on to complete the race fastest at, Duch Thanh managed his position at P2 before completing second fastest at 20’18:615s. Commenting on the session, Viet Nam said, “It was a fun race today. I managed to get a good pace and stayed at the same position throughout the race. Race 1, Round 1 of the Malaysia Superbike Championship made a striking impression at the Sepang International Circuit. Celebrating the win today in the Berjaya Sompo Y16ZR Yamaha Race MasterClass was Arash Tsunami of Taycon Motor. During the qualifying session this morning, Abdullah Qayyum of Ns1 Racing Team made the fastest lap time at 3’12:219s. Second fastest was Syukran Aizat of Ys Chong Motor at 3’13:483s followed by Shafiq Ezzariq of New Chen Motorsports at 3’13:646s. At lap 1, Iqram took the lead followed by Qayyum at P2 and Shafiq at P3. By the end of lap 2, Shafiq moved into P1 with Syukran and Qayyum close behind. Meanwhile, Arash, Amirun and Aliff were seen battling between P4 and P6. By mid-race, Iqram emerged at P1 while Shafiq trailed fiercely behind. At P3 was Syukran. By the 4th lap, Arash who was among the back troop of riders emerged at P1 while Shafiq maintained his momentum at P2. With another two laps to go, the riders looked out for ways to move ahead. Syukran, Arash and Shafiq seemed steady among the front troops as they battled for P1. At the final lap, Arash and Syukran engaged in a heated battle but Arash managed to stay put among the front troop while Syukran lost his pace and lost into the back troop. At the final turn, Arash put on one final fight with Shafiq and by slip-streaming, clocked in first at 17’52:477s. Commenting on the race, Arash said, “It was quite a competitive race but I kept on with the pace and I maintained consistency. Towards the last few laps, I tried to move into the front troop and worked to keep my position there. Round 1 of the Malaysia Superbike Championship (MSBK) kicked-started today at the Sepang International Circuit with the practice sessions. Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin of Yamaha Gen Blu Racing Team Asean clocked in fastest in MSBK1000 A of the practice session combined. Earlier this morning, practice session 1 concluded with Azroy Hakeem Anuar of Boon Siew Honda Racing marking fastest at 2’08:626s. Coming in with fastest lap time was Kasma at 2’09:247s followed by Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman of Horizon Racing Team at 2’09:267s. During the second practice session that was held later in the evening, Kasma emerged fastest at 2’07:547s followed by Azroy with his best at 2’08:027s and Azlan with his best at 2’09:143s. With that, the MSBK1000 A race category concluded with Kasma as the fastest in the practice session combined with his best lap time at 2’07:547s. Kasma who reigned as the overall champion last season is back to once again overcome the challenges. Commenting on the session, Kasma said, “This season would be a little different. In terms of entry list, we don’t have the likes of Zaqhwan. It was more fun to ride last year as it was more competitive for me and it pushes me to do better. For the FP sessions earlier, I tried my best. I am still recovering from ARRC and it is challenging for the time being. During practice session 1 that was held in the afternoon, Radzi Omar marked the fastest lap time at 2’15:418s followed by Khoo Chee Yen of Mobilub Suzuki Racing Team at 2’16:456s. Teo Yew Joe of Savitar Racing Team logged third fastest at 2’16:970s. During practice session 2, Teo Yew Joe emerged fastest with his best lap time at 2’16:759s. Round 1 of The Malaysia Superbike Championship Season 2023 began today at the Sepang International Circuit. Khairul Idham Pawi of Boon Siew Honda Racing Team made the fastest lap time in the practice sessions combined for the MSBK600 race category. During the practice session this morning, Khairul of Boon Siew Honda Racing team clocked in fastest at 2’10:742s followed by his teammate, Helmi Azman who had his best lap time at 2’11:462s. At third fastest was Soichiro Minamimoto of Yamaha Gen Blu Racing Team Asean with his best at 2’13:058s. During practice session 2, Helmi emerged fastest at 2’11:654s followed by his teammate Khairul at 2’11:689s and Soichiro at 2’13:387s. The riders were relentless in their pursuit of making the best of today. With that, Khairul concluded the practice session with the fastest lap time combined at 2’10:742s. The Honda rider who obtained the second position in the overall standings has showcased an improved performance this season and is prepared to embrace the challenge and uncertainties of the race category. Commenting on the session, Khairul said, “It is quite an interesting entry list this season and I believe that it would be a highly competitive feat. I tried my best with the FP sessions earlier but I took a while to get used to the handlebars of the machine. As we all know, we just got back from ARRC which was held last week. The handle bars of the ARRC machine are different from the ones we use in MSBK, so it required time to fine-tune my riding techniques with it. Overall, it was a good one and I did better in FP1 because the tire grip was better compared to FP2. Irfan Haykal of Boon Siew Honda Racing Team logged in fastest in the practice sessions combined for the MSBK250 A race category. Earlier this morning during practice session 1, Md Irfan Haykal Amidi of Boon Siew Honda Racing Team clocked in fastest at 2’27:632s followed by his teammate Md Farid Hakimi 2’30:737. At the third fastest was Louis Abelhard of 2’35:318s. In practice session 2 which was held in the afternoon, Irfan once again emerged fastest at 2’28:967s followed by Md Muzakkir Mohamed of Horizon Racing Team at 2’30:858s. Coming in third fastest was Farid Hakimi at 2’31:192s. With that, the fastest for the day in the practice sessions combined was Irfan Haykal with his best time at 2’27:632s. Last season, Irfan took home the championship title with seven podiums including four wins. Irfan has definitely showcased confidence in the race category and has seemed to have mastered the circuit layout to his advantage. Commenting on the session, Irfan said, “In FP1, I was able to maximise speed and achieve a better time however in FP2, it was a little difficult to manage the tires that have already been worn out. But today’s session was a good start. I managed to secure good timing. During the practice session 1, Huan Ni clocked in the fastest lap time at 2’32:820s followed by Rakshith Dave of CRA Motorsports India at 2’36:197s. Later in the noon during practice session 2, Huan Ni once again logged in fastest at 2’35:283s followed by Rakshith with his best at 2’35:736s and Md Izrul Huzaimi of Horizon Racing Team at 2’36:229s. Ke Huan Ni concluded the evening as the fastest rider in the practice sessions, combined with his best time at 2’32:820s. Round 1 of The Malaysia Superbike Championship Season 2023 began today at the Sepang International Circuit. Cao Viet Nam of Vietnam made the fastest lap time in the practice sessions, combined for the newly introduced Honda CBR250RR Challenge Cup. During practice session 1, Md Haziq Hamdan clocked in fastest at 2’35:202s. Adib Hareez clocked in with the second fastest lap time at 2’37:371s followed by Nguyen Duc Thanh at 2’38:674s. In practice session 2, Cao Viet Nam clocked in his best 2’32:715s. At second fastest was Nguyen Duc Thanh at 2’33:379s followed by Haziq Hamdan at the third fastest spot with his best time at 2’33:524s. Following the final practice, Cao Viet Nam emerged fastest in the practice sessions, combined at 2’32:715s. This would be his first time at the MSBK scene, nevertheless Viet Nam has experience riding at the circuit through his participation in the ARRC which definitely adds value to his riding techniques. Commenting on the session, Viet Nam said, “This is my first time in the MSBK championship and I am feeling really good about it. In this race category, all the machines are similar therefore, it is much easier to anticipate the performances of other riders. I like racing in bigger groups as it injects more of adrenaline rush therefore, this race category truly fulfils what I look for in racing. The challenge would be getting used to the machine as it is a standard machine. I have to pick up riding techniques that would work well for this machine.
