Round 3 of the AEON CREDIT MAM MALAYSIA SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP will be held at Sepang International Circuit this weekend. Ahmad Afif Amran of SUPERFAST JRT X RAPIDO will go all out to retain his position at the top spot in the MSBK250 A race category. In Round 1, he made it to the podium twice at the second spot but in Round 2, he was unstoppable when he dominated the circuit ground and swiped a double-win. With a total of 99 points, he is 13-points away from being defeated by the next rider in line; a trick he may not possibly fall into unless he is challenged by a faulty machine and a bad luck. Afif who has been in the racing scene for a long time has proven his calibre over the years and while he may have gone out of the lime-light in the last two seasons, he is definitely making a comeback this season with a visibly enhanced performance. Riding aboard a 250cc machine is not a new experience for the Terengganu bred rider who is famously known for his outstanding performance aboard the 150cc machine, especially in the local national championship. Afif has gained experiences previously on tank machines and while it was not his strong suit at that time, he has made some remarkable improvements since his participation in MSBK250 A this season. However, the challenges still remain and with a number of strong contenders in the entry list, it’s all about strategizing to ensure the position remains. According to Afif, “My team has gotten a good data last season and we have been utilising it to optimise our machine performance for this season. The outcome has been good so far as we are able to hit our target progressively. I prefer the 250cc machine compared to the 150cc because the lower cc requires quick thinking and strategizing during the race whereas the 250cc has got a lot to do with the machine and the rider’s stamina during the race. I think I am more fitted for the 250cc and so far, I have been enjoying the ride.” “My biggest challenge this season or rather rivalry comes from Irfan Ardiansyah who is quite an experienced rider compared to me. He is also very smart when racing and he knows his way around especially in managing the machine and the circuit. All riders in the MSBK250 A are excellent. So, one slight mistake can make it tough to be in the front troop. The goal right now is to touch up on my riding techniques and my performance so that I can enhance further in this race category however my main aim is to continuously compete competitively throughout the season so that I can maintain among the front troop.”
Round 3 of the AEON CREDIT MAM MALAYSIA SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP will be held at Sepang International Circuit this weekend. Huang Pin-Hung of TRIPLE A GARAGE is pushing beyond his limits to achieve better results in the MSBK250 B race category. In Round 1, the Taipei rider scored double-podium at third spot after battling the highly competitive stride. But that wasn’t enough for him. He bucked up, fine tuned his handling techniques and picked up pace before scoring another double-podium in Round 2 but with a notch up at the second spot. Will Pin-Hung be able to challenge and defeat two-time Weekend Champion, Qayyim Razin of HORIZON RACING TEAM in the next round? It may seem like a tough shot but it isn’t impossible and with the improvements made by the Pin-Hung, the only next move should be the top spot. Commenting on the race, Pin-Hung said, “I’m really happy to move up from third to second place. But talking about the challenges in the MSBK 250B, the hardest part is that I still have a gap compared to the first place. Closing that gap will be the biggest challenge. My machine is in a very good condition and it gives me great confidence but after round 2, I realised that there are still some areas to improve. So, together with the team, we will keep working on the setup to make it better. Both, the speed and riding techniques can always be improved. But for me, the most important part right now is to improve my riding techniques. With better techniques, I can manage the race pace more consistently and find better pace.” “My closest contender are riders with very similar lap times as mine -#25 Jocob Solis. We are always battling on the track, overtaking each other and pushing each other to be better. That competition is what helps me improve every race. I chose to race in MSBK because it’s one of the top championships in Asia, and many strong riders come here. Racing here helps me gain international race experience and also get used to world-class tracks like Sepang. This is an important step toward my future goals, like Asia Road Racing Championship, Asia Talent Cup or even Moto3 one day. Sepang Circuit is a very interesting track. There are so many different types of corners, and some of them are really tricky. But I like this track a lot because it challenges me to adapt and learn every time I ride here. I wish I could have more opportunity to ride in Sepang Circuit!”
Round 3 of the AEON CREDIT MAM MALAYSIA SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP will be held at Sepang International Circuit this weekend. Can Ahmad Jebat Zulkarnain defeat the chart-topper in the YAMAHA Y16ZR RACE MASTERCLASS? Currently sitting at the second spot overall with a total of 48 points, 42-points shy of the top spot, it seems almost impossible for Jebat to topple Akid Shah and take over the lime-light. After taking a double-win in Round 1 and double-podium with 40 points in Round 2, Akid Shah currently remains unbeatable. Jebat on the other hand scored 16 points in three races, placing him above the rest of the troop after the Penangite. What would it take for Jebat to make it ahead of Akid Shah for once this season? The duo is highly competitive and based on their performance, they are also consistent with their lap time and achievements. It definitely is not easy for Jebat to override the superiority of Akid Shah on Sepang grounds unless he is able to strategize and strike while the iron is hot. This also means that Jebat has to tune up his sensory and be more focused during the race while being prepared for the potential risks ahead. Commenting on the race, Jebat said, “During Round 2, I struggled a little but I managed to get P3 in Race 1 and P2 in Race 2. The competition was stiff especially with riders who are really strong in the racing series. But I still try my best to adapt and fine tune my strategies to stay ahead of the others. Akid Shah is currently leading way ahead with 42-point advantage and perhaps to make it champion may be a tough shot. But, as a rider, the only motivation is the top spot on the podium and that’s what I will try to achieve for the rest of the rounds. My limitations may be in terms of weight and also strategy. Akid Shah is much smaller in size compared to myself which means he has better advantage on the long-straight during the race. I always read his body-language during the free practice sessions to see if I can trace and trail his game-plan.” “The Yamaha Y16ZR is a fantastic machine and excellent for racing. It has a small body structure which makes it light and easy for riders regardless of size to race aboard it. So, I truly enjoy riding it and have found great advantage aboard it. The Sepang circuit is my favourite track however one has to find courage and strength to ride there especially when the riders form a tight group. If we doubt ourselves, then it will be tough to take lead. My only goal at the moment is to make it as champion this season. Not going to be easy, but I am going to try as best as I could.”

Helmi retook third from Adam to stay in podium contention. By lap 7, Azroy was still leading but Kasma was closing the gap and attempted a move, only for Azroy to reclaim the lead immediately. On lap 9, Kasma finally made a successful pass on Azroy. The final lap saw Azroy strike back at Turn 1, but Kasma retook the lead immediately. Helmi closed in on the leading duo, with less than one second covering the top three. In a dramatic final turn, Azroy made his move, overtaking Kasma and powering to the line to win in 21’14.641s. Kasma finished a close second at 21’14.871s, with Helmi securing third in 21’15.467s. Azroy shared, “During the race, I just tried to push myself to go beyond my limits. I treated this as an extra intensive training session where I could test different approaches to prepare myself for the bigger stage, which is the ARRC in Japan next week. I’ll make full use of the experience I gained here.” SIC AND TWMR WOULD LIKE TO EXPRESS OUR HEARTFELT THANK YOU TO AEON CREDIT (M) BERHAD FOR THE SUPPORT RENDERED THIS WEEKEND DURING AEON CREDIT MAM MALAYSIA SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP.
