RAJINI HOPES FOR A SPOT ON THE PODIUM
This season’s MSBK1000 A Class has been a fairly electrifying affair between riders of great calibre and professional experience. Rajini Krishnan of RACR Castrol Power 1 Ultimate is all pumped up for the last round of the Malaysia Superbike Championship for this season which will be held at the Sepang International Circuit this weekend.
The Indian citizen is no stranger to the domain of MSBK. His participation can be traced back all the way to 2006. Rajini has not only been competitive in his strides but has also had an incredible track record of achievements. In the Pirelli Malaysia Superbike Championship in 2017, Rajini took the podium in all five rounds including two wins. In 2018, he bagged another three podiums in the four- round season.
Commenting on his past participations, Rajini said, “MSBK is one of the first international championships that I participated in. In the past years, it has always been my go-to race to widen my experiences and add on to my riding knowledge and skills.”
This season, Rajini who rode aboard the Yamaha YZF-R1 may be on the path to rediscovering his momentum and with the entry of highly robust riders in the race category, this season has not been an easy feat for him. He has taken the fourth spot in Race 1 and Race 2 of Round 1 and fifth spot in all three races of Round 2.
According to Rajini, “I ride aboard the Yamaha R1 2016 model. The biggest challenge on my part would be taking the strides among riders who race with the 2022 model machines. To add on to that, this is my first time back after a three-year gap in between.”
“Apart from that, I also have no experience riding with the Dunlop tyres and also in the setup of the suspension. I am still trying to find my pace and get the best lap time. However, it boils back to the fact that my machine is not as powerful as the other machines.”
With Round 3 being the final race for this season, Rajini said, “My target for the coming round is to catch up with the lap time and yes, we are definitely working towards changing the setup of the machine to have a more competitive ride. The hope is to make a spot on the podium.”
