HELMI DISSATISFIED WITH FASTEST TIME IN MSBK 600 FREE PRACTICE

Mohd Helmi Azman of the Boon Siew Honda Racing Team came up tops after the first day of MSBK 600 Free Practice at Round 2 of the 2021 MSBK

Mohd Helmi Azman of the Boon Siew Honda Racing Team came up tops after the first day of MSBK 600 Free Practice at Round 2 of the 2021 Malaysia Superbike Championships at the Sepang International Circuit.

The Honda rider clocked 2’10.669s to take provisional pole ahead of the qualifying session on Saturday morning. However, Helmi expressed that he is far from satisfied with his race pace.

“There is a lot more that I must improve on. We only have this one final round to make an impact. In particular, I feel that I take too long to get into rhythm. The result of that issue was apparent in Round 1 two weeks ago when I kept losing touch with the leading group at the start of the race,” said Helmi.

“I was very unhappy with my results from Round 1. I can do better and I intend to do better in this finale,” Helmi concluded. The Boon Siew Honda Racing Team rider is currently in line for the 2021 MSBK 600 crown, trailing championship leader Mohd Syarifuddin Azman by only two points.

The second quickest time of the day was posted by Azroy Hakeem Anuar, who checked in with 2’10.794s. Championship leader Syarifuddin was third fastest with 2’10.894s.
