On course to win his first MSBK 250 title, Mohd Izam Ikmal is still feeling upbeat as Round 2 of the 2021 Malaysia Superbike Championship gets underway at the Sepang International Circuit this weekend.

In spite of a looming ride-through penalty which he must serve out in Race 1, the Boon Siew Honda Racing Team rider has expressed confidence that he will end the weekend on a triumphant note. Izam was slapped with a ride-through penalty for dangerous riding in the previous leg of the championship series.

“Last round I was racing solo. This time around, I will have my team mate Idlan Haqimi by my side. By working together, even with the ride-through penalty, I hope to at least finish third in Race 1,” said Izam.

True to his words, the Boon Siew Honda Racing Team duo consistently topped the first day of free practices. Izam was the quickest of the day with 2’29.607s followed by his team mate Idlan with 2’29.966s. SIC Racing’s Mohd Danial Syahmi completed the top three with 2’31.534s.
