THE TRUTH BEHIND THE TENSE LOOK

At the MAM Malaysia Superbike Championship 2026, we captured a rather intense moment between FCC – HONDA PHILIPPINES INC RACING TEAM rider Carlsen Jacob Solis and his coach, Malaysian rider Mohd Ramdan Rosli. In the paddock, Carlsen looked fiercely serious, heavily frowning as his coach spoke. Fearing a mid-practice meltdown, we showed Carlsen the photo and asked exactly what they were arguing about. “Haha! I wasn’t arguing with Coach at all, and I certainly wasn’t trying to look scary!” Carlsen laughed. “Coach was breaking down exactly which turns I needed to attack to improve my lap time. I was just concentrating incredibly hard because I didn’t want to miss a single drop of his advice. Honestly, I was just praying I wouldn’t forget it all by the very next session!” Behind that fierce concentration lies a deep, emotional bond. Reflecting on their two years together, Carlsen’s tone shifted to genuine gratitude. “He has completely transformed my pace, my consistency, and my race craft. There is still a massive mountain to learn, but he pushes me relentlessly and builds my confidence from the ground up.” While Ramdan is known for his strict track demeanor, Carlsen sees another side. “On track, he’s dead serious because he wants greatness for me. Off track, he is remarkably relaxed. He believes in me even on my absolute worst days, ensuring I grow as both a rider and a person.” When asked for one final message to his mentor, Carlsen said, “I don’t say it nearly enough, but thank you for always believing in me, especially when I make mistakes. I am deeply grateful for your endless positivity. And… I’m truly sorry if I sometimes give you extra grey hairs!”
