AL SYAFIQ STOLE THE SHOW

Muhd Al Syafiq Muhd Al Amirul Zaki of WEE PLUS RACING SABAH delivered a last-lap masterclass to clinch victory in Race 1 of the Berjaya Sompo YAMAHA R15M Race Elites at the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit, Round 3 of the 2025 AEON CREDIT MAM MALAYSIA SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP.
The race began on a wet but drying track, with Shahzureen Que Absyar of SHH PENANG TEAM seizing the holeshot before Ahmad Iqram Danish Ahmad Ghazali of SOON CHONG RACING TEAM powered past to lead. The early laps saw constant shuffling, with Mohd Ikram Dani Mohd Esa of EE SING and Muhd Akid Mohd Shah Khearul Nisiam of SINGDECA DYNAMIC pushing into the fight, while Muhd Fareeq Mohd Faizal of WELLY ASSORTED RAWANG RACING TEAM stayed in contention.
By Lap 3, Iqram briefly regained the lead, chased by Muhd Al Syakir Zulfayri of MH CHUA & SONS and Al Syafiq himself. With positions changing every corner, made it impossible for any rider to break away.
The drama peaked on the final lap, with Fareeq in front, Iqram and Akid right on his tail, and Allan Haris Herman of CHAI KEN MOTORSPORT ready to pounce. But in a breathtaking finish, Al Syafiq launched a bold move in the closing corners, surging into the lead and crossing the line in a nail-biting 22’47.022s. Akid finished just 0.007s behind, while Allan snatched third at 22’47.051s.
Al Syafiq said, “I honestly didn’t expect to win. At the start, my aim was just to stay inside the top five. I kept my pace, waited for the right moment, and on the last lap I saw the chance, I made my move and took the victory.”
SIC AND TWMR WOULD LIKE TO EXPRESS OUR HEARTFELT THANK YOU TO AEON CREDIT (M) BERHAD FOR THE SUPPORT RENDERED THIS WEEKEND DURING AEON CREDIT MAM MALAYSIA SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP.
