KASMA GRABBED VICTORY AS AZROY FALTERED

Opening round of the 2025 AEON CREDIT MAM MALAYSIA SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP took place today at the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit. Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin of Hong Leong Yamaha Malaysia claimed victory in Race 1 of the MSBK1000 A category.
During the qualifying session this morning, Kasma clocked the fastest lap at 2’06:084s. The second-fastest was Muhd Helmi Azman of Honda Racing Malaysia at 2’06:178s, while his teammate Azroy Hakeem Anuar secured third with 2’06:719s.
Helmi led the race at the start, followed by Azroy, with Kasma in P3. At P4, Md Adam Md Norrodin of AMI SUZUKI MOTORSPORT and Lachlan Epis of Savitar Team Asia battled for position. Unfortunately, Lachlan crashed at Turn 8 on Lap 3, forcing him out of the race.
By Lap 7, Azroy was leading and hit a top speed of 292.7km/h, attempting to distance himself from Kasma at P2. Kasma, however, stayed close behind, and the two created a 0:713s gap from the rest of the group.
Azroy’s hopes of a podium win were dashed due to a technical issue, allowing Kasma, Helmi, and Adam to overtake and drop him to P4.
Kasma secured the win with a time of 21’18:489s. Helmi finished second at 21’19:320s, and Adam placed third at 21’27:766s.
Kasma said, “If Azroy hadn’t had that technical issue, there’s no way I could’ve overtaken him — his bike was like a rocket. I had already accepted finishing second. But luck was on my side today. Still, I won’t get too excited yet — we’ve got Race 2 tomorrow, and I’m sure Azroy will come back strong.”
