AZROY WON RACE 2

Round 3 of the Malaysia Superbike Championship took place today at the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit. Azroy Hakeem Anuar of Boon Siew Honda Racing Team was victorious in Race 2 of the MSBK1000 A race category.

Yesterday, Kasma Daniel was flawless as he made swift moves around the circuit to complete the race first. Behind him though, Soichiro battled with Azlan before Azroy joined in to tackle the top three positions. On the last lap, the fight heated up between the trio before Azlan and Azroy launched their moves to take the second and third spot respectively.

In Race 2, Azlan once again took lead with Soichiro and Kasma at P2 and P3. However, before lap 1 ended, Kasma found a way from the inside to take over P2. Azroy trailed the trio at P4 before making striking on lap 2. Meanwhile, Kasma who was already close to Azlan closed the gap and took lead. Before the lap ended, Kasma took a slide and fell. Azroy immediately took the opportunity to move into P1 with Soichiro close by at P2 and Azlan at P3. By mid-lap, Azroy drew a comfortable gap away from Soichiro at 1.966s. By the end of lap 6, Azroy was off the hook and no longer bounded by threats. Azlan however went on to make his moves on Soichiro but the Japanese did not budge from his position. At the last turn of lap 9, Soichiro slowed down immediately opening the path for Azlan. On the last lap, Azroy raced towards victory at 21’27:658s.

Commenting on the race, Azroy said, “Thank God that I was able to win the race. Although I started at the third last position, I knew that my pace was the same as the riders ahead of me. So, I worked my way into the front troop and tried to maintain my momentum. Then, I saw Kasma had a fall so I went all out to take that spot. Towards the last few laps, I noticed that I had drawn a comfortable gap with the riders behind me so I played it safe and it all worked out. Let’s see what happens in Race 3.”

Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman of Horizon Racing Team made it second at 21’30:873s.

Kasma who fell, made his way into third place at 22’40:218s.
