ASYRAFF OUTPACED THE REST

The Race 1 of Round 4 in the 2025 AEON CREDIT MAM MALAYSIA SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP’s Berjaya Sompo YAMAHA R15M Race Elites category at the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit delivered an exhilarating contest, with Asyraff Zaquan Zainal Raif of SOON CHYE MOTOR storming to a commanding victory.
From the outset, Asyraff made a bold start to seize the lead, closely pursued by Ahmad Jebat Zulkarnain of WEE PLUS RACING SABAH. By Lap 2, Ahmad Malek Ridha Mohd Nazrun of SOON CHONG RACING TEAM had taken over the front, with Raiyan Khardanee Mohd Sanusi of SINGDECA P2, Asyraff, and Muhammad Aqil Danial Nasrul of NEW CHEN MOTORSPORTS locked in a tightly contested group. The pack remained inseparable, with no rider able to pull clear.
On Lap 3, Asyraff accelerated to reclaim the lead, while Muhd Adam Shahzrel Mohd Azhrel of LIANG SOON RACING UNION set the fastest lap of 2’52.423s to trail Asyraff in P2. Muhammad Aqil and Ahmad Iqram Danish Ahmad Ghazali of SOON CHONG RACING TEAM were in pursuit, with Asyraff already opening a 1-second gap from the chasing pack.
Lap 4 saw Asyraff continue his relentless pace, clocking a 2’52.073s lap and extending his lead to 1.490s, making it increasingly difficult for the group to close in. Behind him, Iqram, Malek, Adam, and Muhd Farhan Naqib Mohd of FA SROI M engaged in a fierce battle for second position.
By Lap 5, Jebat fired back with the fastest lap of 2’51.465s, rejoining the fray for the podium battle, while Asyraff continued to control the race at the front. On Lap 6, he had impressively stretched his lead to 3.880s, an impressive margin in a one-make racing category.
On the final lap, Asyraff maintained a comfortable pace, while the group behind fought intensely, swapping positions in a dramatic showdown for the remaining podium spots. Asyraff crossed the line unchallenged in 20’14.926s, with Malek taking second in 20’22.319s and Jebat securing third in 20’22.366s.
Asyraff commented, “Alhamdulillah, I managed to secure first place in the race earlier. I just focused on pushing from start to finish, creating a gap and crossing the line in first. I’m really happy about that. Tomorrow, I will aim to stay consistently in first place, and I also pray that all the riders can complete the race safely.”
