IBRAHIM TAKES THE HATTRICK, SYARIFUDDIN TAKES THE TITLE
Ibrahim Norrodin was on song at Round 2 of the 2021 Malaysia Superbike Championship when he notched up a hattrick of wins in the MSBK 600.
The SIC Racing team rider capped off a successful weekend with a strong finish in Race 3 that he won uncontested with a time of 21’56.275s. His brother Adam joined Ibrahim on the podium in second place while Mohd Helmi Azman took third.
However, it was Ibrahim’s team mate Mohd Syarifuddin Azman who had the most to celebrate. Despite not winning a single race over the course of the two rounds in 2021, Syarifuddin’s play-it-safe strategy paid off when he took the title with 105 points. Syarifuddin finished on the podium in five out of six races. The only race where he was absent from the podium was the final race of the season. He crossed the finish line in fourth.
Ibrahim’s hattrick pushed him up the championship table. Handicapped by his two crashes in Round 1, Ibrahim’s best position this season placed him second overall with 95 points.
Boon Siew Honda Racing Team’s Mohd Helmi Azman ended the season in third with 89 points.
