COMPETITIVE STRIDE AWAITS!

The Malaysia Superbike Championship will once again hit Sepang International Circuit this weekend. Riders of the MSBK250 A and MSBK250 B are counting the days in anticipation of yet another season of thrill and rush of adrenaline, prepared to either break it or make it.

Last season, we saw the rise of 2022 defending champion, Md Irfan Haykal of Boon Siew Honda Racing Team who went on to raise the benchmark in the MSBK250A race category, sweeping five winning titles out of six races in the 3-round season. He defended his title with excellent showmanship before bagging the rewarding championship title once again. His team mate Md Farid Hakimi who trailed closely behind throughout the season landed himself at the second spot overall. At the third spot overall was Geoffrey Reviven Emmanuel of Gusto Racing Team who after a strenuous stride alongside Malaysian duo, took one win in the final race.

Commenting on the upcoming race, Irfan said, “This season seems like it is going to be a highly competitive one. Looking at the entry list, I am quite sure that it would be tough to defend my championship title but I will utilise my experiences from the previous years and from other championships to find the best position in the race category. I also learnt quite a lot from the experiences of other riders and I usually evaluate it further to see if I can emulate it in my own riding techniques.”

“My goal is to continue enhancing my performances and work on my limitations so that I can continue with the momentum of winning. As for the machine, so far, I think it is in excellent condition. The team has been working hard to ensure optimised performance. I will of course do my best to understand the machine that I get. The Sepang circuit is a long and wide one and while it can be easy, it can also be challenging because it opens up opportunities for other riders to strike. I love Sepang circuit and frankly, I am looking forward to the ride once again.”

In the MSBK250 B race category, Md Izrul Huzaimi returned to the scene for a full-season in 2023 after gaining an impressive achievement in the final round of season 2022 with a double-shot on the podium. Striking in his pursuit to be the best, he went on to deliver excellence in his performances with three wins for the season, landing himself as the overall champion for the race category. Taking the second spot overall was Rakshith Dave of CRA Motorsports India who also took three wins for the season but short 4-points for a grand finish. Taking third was Ke Huan Ni who completed the season with 62 points in hand.

In the coming season, there will be new entries from Indonesia, Singapore and India with riders of great calibre and sea of knowledge including one female entry from Malaysia. The MSBK250 A and MSBK250 B race category foresees a more competitive stride that is sure to keep the track heated for the weekend.
