Andi Farid Izdihar of ASTRA HONDA RACING was close behind in second, followed by Azroy, Zaqhwan, and Kasma. Despite the slower lap times, riders took the opportunity to gather valuable data for potential wet races. With his FP1 pace proving decisive, Azroy maintained the overall lead in the combined results ahead of Adam and Epis, while Kasma and Zaqhwan rounded off the top five. Azroy shared, “I’m feeling quite okay today because it’s been a while since I last rode a 1000cc bike at the Sepang Circuit. Now I’m getting used to the feeling on the bike again, so Alhamdulillah. For us, the lap time is still far from what we are targeting, but we still have time tomorrow and the day after, so we’ll do better then.” SIC AND TWMR WOULD LIKE TO EXPRESS OUR HEARTFELT THANK YOU TO AEON CREDIT (M) BERHAD FOR THE SUPPORT RENDERED THIS WEEKEND DURING AEON CREDIT MAM MALAYSIA SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP. But Alhamdulillah, after just two laps I managed to get back into rhythm. For Race 1, since it’s now the rainy season, we’ve gained new knowledge for wet conditions as well. If you ask any rider, of course we all want to improve further, so we’ll first work on getting the timing needed to move up to Category A. If we achieve that, we’ll definitely join next season.” SIC AND TWMR WOULD LIKE TO EXPRESS OUR HEARTFELT THANK YOU TO AEON CREDIT (M) BERHAD FOR THE SUPPORT RENDERED THIS WEEKEND DURING AEON CREDIT MAM MALAYSIA SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP. I had to go in and out of the pits and couldn’t complete a proper lap. However, in Practice 2, everything was perfect. I didn’t face any issues and was just focusing on getting my feel and rhythm back on the bike. This is my second race weekend in the 1000cc category, and there’s still a lot I need to learn about riding a 1000cc bike. My confidence is growing with each session, and I see this as a valuable learning experience. I’ll keep pushing for tomorrow’s sessions and the race. As for tomorrow’s preparations, I’ll be working on improving the bike setup and refining my riding style. I also plan to focus more on the electronics and suspension so I can ride faster and feel more comfortable on the bike.” SIC AND TWMR WOULD LIKE TO EXPRESS OUR HEARTFELT THANK YOU TO AEON CREDIT (M) BERHAD FOR THE SUPPORT RENDERED THIS WEEKEND DURING AEON CREDIT MAM MALAYSIA SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP. On the third lap, we made a different setup to secure the first place. So far, the setup for today has been excellent. For Qualifying, we will try to maintain the setup from today. Round 2 of the AEON CREDIT MAM MALAYSIA SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP will be held at Sepang International Circuit this weekend. Kasma Daniel of Hong Leong Yamaha Malaysia is pumped up to take the challenge a notch up in the MSBK1000 A race category. Currently gracing the top spot in the overall chart, Kasma has always been recognised for his robust moves and swerves which has earned him the championship title in Year 2023. While 2024 was not his year to defend his title, he is back to make up for the loss and to possibly recover his fame in the race category. However, it may not be as easy as it may seem considering the rivalry of his closest contender Azroy Hakeem Anuar of Honda Racing Malaysia who has also been making waves on the circuit ground since the season opener. With a total of 38 points, Azroy is only 7 points away from being an equal with Kasma. What would it take for the Yamaha rider to keep the threat of the Honda rider away? Adding on to the strain between the duo is the entry of Suzuki rider, Adam Norrodin of AMI Suzuki Motorsport who has also been flaunting a side that could potentially shake the current standings. He currently holds a total of 32 points which is not far off from the chart-topper who has bagged a total of 45 points to date. For Kasma, it’s definitely going to be hard work especially if he intends to maintain his position as it is. Commenting on the race, Kasma said, “This season is definitely going to be a tough one especially with the likes of Azroy and Adam in it. With Azroy, we all know what he is capable of at Sepang circuit and with Adam, his results speak itself. The track is something that we are all familiar with. We have all had our fair share of mileage and achievements on the ground. The only thing that would be of concern is the machine condition during the race and of course, luck. So, while it is additional effort on my side, I am quite confident with my current performance, that is if everything goes smoothly on that day.” “The goal for me, of course, it’s about winning. Because, I have been there, done that and achieved it. So, selling myself short of that would not make sense as I know what I am capable of. It is not going to be easy for sure but I am going to do my best to make sure that I have a fighting chance of making it at the top. For now, I am very comfortable with the machine and I know that I can optimise on that. But let’s see how it goes. Keeping my fingers crossed!”
Round 2 of the AEON CREDIT MAM MALAYSIA SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP will be held at Sepang International Circuit this weekend. Teuku Irfan Affandy of Triple A Garage is geared up to embrace the challenges in the MSBK1000 B race category. It may not be an easy feat but Teuku put on a bold fight over the weekend in Round 1 to bag the Weekend Champion title with a total of 45 points. Will it be a smooth ride in Round 2? Definitely not especially with the contenders who are equally competitive in the racing series especially the likes of Law Kien Huey. Clearly, what matters most is the ability to retain a consistent lap time while also being confident and consistent throughout the race. Commenting on the race, Teuku said, “For Round 2, I expect the pace to get even tighter. Riders are going to come back stronger, so staying consistent and maintaining mental focus will be crucial. We’ve also got limited time to test and improve the bike, so preparation will be key. Rider like Law Kien Huey got serious pace. But instead of focusing too much on others, I focus on my own performance — lap by lap, session by session. Pressure is part of racing, but I treat it as fuel, not a burden. The bike performed well in Round 1, but there’s always room to improve. We’re still fine-tuning the suspension and electronics to suit different track conditions. With more data and feedback, I’m confident we can unlock a bit more performance and stability.” Speaking about what excites him in MSBK, Teuku said, “What I love about MSBK1000B is the level playing field. It gives privateers and semi-pros a chance to shine and push their limits. The competition is intense but respectful. To improve the series, I’d suggest more media exposure and live streaming — it helps riders gain recognition and opens doors for more sponsorship opportunities. My main aim is to stay consistent, fight for the podium again, and collect valuable points for the championship. Through MSBK, I want to grow as a racer, build my team’s presence, and hopefully inspire more young riders to step into the sport.”
