IDLAN HAKIMI CONTINUES TO IMPRESS

Boon Siew Honda Racing Team’s young protégé, Mohd Idlan Hakimi Raduan continued to impress in the 250cc genre when he aced the first day of free practices in the season opener of the 2020 Malaysia Superbike Championship (MSBK).

Idlan topped the MSBK250 free practice sessions with 2’29.337s. However, the most impressive rider of the day would be SIC Racing Team’s Mohd Danial Syahmi A Shahril. Danial, returning to racing after a long injury, ended the day as the second fastest rider with 2’30.160s. Hi-Rev SCK Honda Racing Team’s Mohd Izam Ikmal was the third fastest with 2’30.954s

Here are some quotes from the riders after the first day of practice:

Mohd Idlan Haqimi Raduan (Honda) (Boon Siew Honda Racing Team)

“I’m happy with my results today but I think I still have a long way to go in the 250cc class. The last time I rode on the Honda CBR250 RR was in March this year during the ARRC. Since then, I’ve not had the opportunity to throw my leg over a full-frame bike. Today, my team told me to take things easy and just get the rhythm back.”

Mohd Danial Syahmi A Shahril (Kawasaki) (SIC Racing Team)

“Everyone in the paddock has been talking about getting back in rhythm. But among all of us, I think I’m the one who most critically needs to get into racing form. But it feels good to be back on a bike again and my condition is pretty good. I just need to regain my confidence level again. Towards that end, I’m working with the team to improve the handling of my bike so that it will be more comfortable for me.”

Abdullah Qayyum Abd Razak (Kawasaki) (Horizon Racing Team)

“Today was tough for us. During FP1, we were very focused on getting our rear suspension right. The rain in FP2 did not improve matters. So we will need to see how it goes during the qualifying tomorrow.”

Daing Jamilus Herianto (Kawasaki) (Pakelo KBSHM PHR Racing Team)

“Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the last time our team raced was in December last year. Naturally, we faced a number of technical issues today. Our target for this round? Top 10 would be good!”
